The Account will adopt an owner’s perspective and assume shared responsibility for the financial area of the current and future portfolio of hotels. The individual will be charged with all accounting activities related to income auditing, cashiering, tax compliance, and month end processing so as to ensure financial controls, accurate reporting and hotel profitability. S/he will also need to work with the On-site asset management team to provide oversight to the hospitality investment in the process of recording/reconciling of transactions in the portfolio management and accounting system. More specifically, the responsibilities include: ● Review cashflow distributions and prepare accounts and other reports to be sent to investors/owners monthly, quarterly and annually under preferred formats; ● Assist with accounting queries and provide information/advice as required to investors/owners; ● Review, challenge and report hotel capital expenditure (capex) requests to ensure the requests are in line with agreed capex budget and agree priority spend where possible; ● Keep track of exceptional spend incurred, deal with over spends On projects and any other queries that arise; ● Manage any insurance related queries and communicate with insurers as necessary; ● Provide monthly and quarterly financial (especially capex) reporting to the bank in their preferred format as required under bank covenants; ● Review of hotel owner’s payroll before submission for payment; ● Deal with queries from rates advisor and assist with any reporting they may need for assessment; ● Assist auditors with queries and produce consolidated year end financial reports and statements for the review of investors/owners; ● Assist in legal and tax issues and contract compliance; ● Provide support to other ad hoc tasks or projects when needed. PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS The desired candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/hospitality management or an equivalent level qualification – a Master degree is preferred. Moreover, this person should bring On board relevant work experience in the hospitality industry – ideally in an asset management function with a hotel real estate owning company, REIT, family office or private equity house or a hotel consulting, appraisal or asset management firm. Experience On the operator-side in accounting, corporate finance or feasibility function is equally valued. Experience in finance, strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, administration, and project management are critical characteristic. Previous exposure to, and knowledge of, hotel accounting, operations and financial management is highly beneficial. Being well organized, detail-focused and computer literate will help this individual to work in an effective and efficient manner, s/he will be entrepreneurial in spirit, highly confident of their abilities and naturally willing to take On increasingly senior responsibilities. The candidate must be a self-motivated professional and be able to operate in a fast-paced environment. S/He should possess drive and passion and feel confident in a dynamic team environment where individuals are expected to contribute and collaborate to reach set targets. The specific qualifications for this positions are: ● 5-7 years of related progressive experience in hotel accounting or related field; ● College degree in accounting/finance or with an accounting/ finance/hotel management concentration; a Master degree is preferred; ● Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), Company approved spreadsheets and word processing and in the operation of all hotel or accounting-specific systems; ● Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to interact with various audiences; ● Ability to use logic to define a problem, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret information and deal with abstract variables for unique or unfamiliar situations; ● Strong attention to detail, an ability to multitask and a tenacity to get things done; ● High levels of self-motivation, confidence in One’s own abilities and an entrepreneurial spirit.
